I've been bringing my kids (and myself) here for a couple of years. It's close, the staff is super friendly and getting your hair cut in a loft is fun for the kids.

For adults, in addition to a full complement of hair services, they offer nail services, skin care, waxing, massage, make-up and bridal services. I've tried the facial, hair cut and color and have always left very pleased!

Drop in times are lots of fun for the kids on rainy days or when there is no school but can get crowded (great for them!) Since it's so close to Maple Valley, if it's too crowded, turning around is no problem. Just be sure to prepare your kids of this possibility just in case.

My kids and I have been to numerous children's parties here and they are easy for the parents and fun for the kids!

Be sure to look for them on Facebook for realtime updates! The link is on their homepage and they are active FB users.

Oh, and they also host a cool "Mom's Night" regularly with local mom vendors for the moms to browse while the kids bounce.

A local business that is involved locally!

I recently had silhouettes cut of both my children by Kerry Cook as a special at their pre-school. They are beautiful and definitely look like my kids! I can't wait to give them to the kids' grandmothers for Mother's Day. I'm keeping an extra set for myself. Very reasonably priced!

My 4 year old learned to ski at Crystal Mountain this year (2010) with a 6 week lesson package. Basically, for 6 Saturdays in January and February, 2 hours each time, she was skiing by the third lesson. Classes are small at this age. My daughter's class had 3 kids in it total. Sometimes with assistants it was one-on-one attention.

The instructors were knowledgeable and worked with me and my sometimes reluctant to let go of my leg daughter. At the end of six lessons, my 4 year old is skiing the green trails, loves it and wants to try "Ski Cross" (Thank you Winter Olympics.) She turns on a dime but mostly prefers to zoom straight down. I can tell I'm going to have a hard time keeping up in a few years.

The 2 hour, 6 week lesson package cost around $200 (lift ticket is free to kids under 10 this year at least). The drive was manageable and even with the lack of snow in 2010, Crystal Mountain had enough and it appeared the resort is literally on the snow line.

I enjoyed the experience, as did my daughter. Next year, we'll sign up both kids as lessons start for kids who are 4 or will be turning 4 during the lesson months. NOTE: You need to sign up by early December!

My daughter learned to swim here last summer and I can definitely recommend this pool and program. It's an outdoor, heated lap pool, very large! Lessons are only in the summer with sessions running 30 minutes, 5 days a week for two weeks at a time. Lessons start for kids as young as 3 without a parent having to get in the pool.

Why I liked this program...
1. Didn't have to sit and sweat indoors while my child was swimming and got to enjoy the sun.
2. 30 minutes a day for 2 weeks straight, your child will learn to swim. It's practically inevitable.
3. They even have a snack bar.
4. You don't have to become a member. However, I am seriously considering membership just to the pool when both the kids are swimming. Membership not prohibitively expensive and I think I paid just $100 for two weeks of lessons.
5. Locker rooms are clean!

What I didn't like...
1. Driving "all the way" to Fairwood. But then again, it barely took 20 minutes so I shouldn't complain too much about having to leave Maple Valley.

This program was worth the drive and I'll be signing both my kids up again this year! I can definitely can recommend this program for preschoolers. I don't have any experience on the lessons for the older kids but didn't witness any issues.

Business Update:
I've heard through the grapevine that A Mom's Haven is moving into the shopping center across the street (where Johnson's Home and Garden DoIt Center is located) and is under new management. Updates are welcome!

We are not happy that many of the costmers have not been paid the money owed. We have no contact information to find out if the store is reopening or if we will be issued payment? We have loved the store and would like to see it re open bue feel a little put out by the lack of communication from the owners.

If you are looking for seasonal activities and outdoor fun with kids, this is a great place to go. I can vouch that rides are appropriate for kids 18+ months as that was the age of my youngest child when we last went. She was able to ride the ponies, enjoyed the carousel and even went on the roller coaster. My 3 year old had a blast riding the rides and didn't want to leave. We didn't go during their pumpkin festival and I imagine it can get quite crowded, but on a grey, late August Saturday morning, there were no crowds to worry about and we had a great time!
